If all nearby mechanics are busy, the mechanic who is called will be far away and will need more time to reach the ride. When a ride breaks down, the nearest mechanic is called. Having your roller coasters checked every 10 minutes is good, but having an available mechanic near the ride is even more important. Having a single roller coaster train on a roller coaster will prevent crashes, but the loss of profit means this is not a good idea. Besides, to maximize your profit, you will want want to have as many cars as possible on a roller coaster, no matter how much they might stick out. Crashes are caused by roller coaster trains going too fast, not by cars sticking out of the station. I don't agree with The Pursuer's comment regarding making sure there are no cars sticking out of the back of the station. The Dynamite Blaster ride actually has a couple of of straight pieces of track just before the station - you can modify the coaster by replacing one of those straight pieces of track with 18 mph brakes so that you have additional protection if there is a station brakes failure. However, you can also put brakes in front of the station to slow the roller coaster train so it is not going 25 mph when it reaches the station, even if the station brakes have broken down. This usually means you need to build custom roller coasters. That way, even if there is a station brakes failure, there will not be a crash. The best way to prevent crashes like this is to ensure a train isnt going 25mph or more when it arrives at the station. That too also happens because it is going too fast. The only other way is if a cart flies off the track, such as on a bobsled or water slide. In RCT1, crashes usually happen because the ride had a station brakes failure, and one roller coaster train travelling at least 25mph hits another roller coaster train that was parked at the station. Reseting the ride like that is also handy if you have a ride where cars have gotten stuck on the track. Customers will be reluctant to ride it again at first because "it isnt safe", but eventually everyone will ride it again. You then click on the green light again to reopen it. If a ride has crashed, you can reset it by double clicking on the red light.
